Hey Everyone!

I literally have no idea what week I am on or what is going on... that is the funny thing about missions.... you never know what is going on! Well, first I have to start off by saying.... Congratulations to my sister Lacey!!!! She is now married!!!!! That is so crazy to me!!! And also.... Congratulations to Madelin Pepper and Brailey Ellis on getting engaged!!!!! That is also so exciting!!!!! With that being said..... No one else is allowed to get engaged or get married until I am home! I am sure everyone can wait a year :)

Alrighty now onto my week! Here are some miracles that have occurred!

1. Sister Bengtzen and I did not get transferred! We are both still in Chalo Hills and we are both so excited!!

2. We got to take a new missionary out! She was the cutest thing ever! She was super nervous, but she did phenomenal! in 2.5 hours we taught the Message of the Restoration 5 times, gave out 3 Books of Mormon,  and set 1 person for baptism!! It was literally a miracle that so many people were outside and willing to talk to us!

3. We saw Kelly and Dave.... They have decided they want to start taking the lessons again!!! They also fed us pizza and hot wings! I just love them to pieces! I know that Heavenly Father has something planned for them in this upcoming 6 weeks and I am so excited to see what it is!

Here is a funny thing that happened this week....
We had about 5 minutes before 9pm last night so we decided to leave one of our members a gift! She had been going on team ups with us soooo much! She is truly amazing!   So we had this empty paper towel  roll and we drew her on it and said.... "you're on a roll" we thought it was soooo funny! Well she lives on the third floor of an apartment complex... so we knocked on the door and ran away... and guess what happened?! I tripped and fell down the stairs! It was sooo funny! I didn't get hurt, and our member loved it, so  it was well worth it!
Also we were driving down the road today and there was road kill on the side of the road and Sister Bengtzen looked at me and said.... "well that was a GUTsy move." She is so funny, I can't get over her little jokes that she says- they make me laugh every time!

Alrighty for my Spiritual thought I chose the scripture Jacob 4;7 it says... "Neverthrless, the Lord God showeth us our weakness that we may know that it is by his grace and his great condescensions unto the children of men, that we may have power to do these things." We all have weaknesses. But I know that If we let Jesus Christ help us, he can turn our weaknesses into our strengths! I just love that idea so much! So my challenge for you all this week is to give whatever burden  you are going through to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I can promise as you do so that you will have so much joy and peace in your life!

Well that is pretty much it for this week! I hope you all have a great rest of your week! I love and miss you all so much!!

Love,

Sister Rook

Hey Everyone!!

This week was so good! People were taught, miracles occurred, a ton of laughing happened, and so many other things!

Alrighty, so the Miracles for this week are...

1. Bill! We met Bill at a park and we taught him a super powerful restoration! He was so prepared and he had such great questions! It was just amazing to see his heart soften as we continued to teach him! Being a missionary is just the best thing ever!

2. We got in contact with a potential investigator named Crystle! She is the sweetest human ever! We also taught her the restoration and she accepted to be baptized!

3. We got to have dinner with President and Sister Gardner! While we were there President Gardner taught us the process of how to receive revelation from the Book of Mormon every single day! It was so amazing! As a result of that, my studies have become so much better! I love having the opportunity to Feast Upon the Words of Christ every day!

4. So many less active members were willing to have us come back and teach them. It is so cool to watch people have a change of heart!

So many other miracles have happened, but those are just the ones I could think of right now! Alright, now on to funny moments that have happened this week!

1. Sister Bengtzen had to use the restroom so we thought it would be a good idea to go to a less active members home so we could go inside. Turns out our records are wrong and it was not the right address. Long story short... She used a random person's restroom. The lady was super nice... but she wasn't interested, it was so funny!

2. We finished our daily planning on time and we were so excited and we took sooo many funny pics... you will see them later :D

3. I have been falling sooo much this week, I literally have been tripping every other step! I am so nervous for when there is snow on the ground!

4. Sister Bengtzen and I made our own version of Chicken and waffles... eggo waffles and dino nuggets.

Well that is pretty much it for my week! Thank you for all your prayers and support! I love and miss you all so much! Have a great rest of your week!

Love, Sister Rook

October 18, 2016

Alright y'all, you are never going to believe what happened. So we didn't get to email yesterday, obviously, and let me tell you why! Late Sunday night (long after Sister Bengtzen and I had retired to bed) there was a man who was driving his tractor home to get it fixed. He was driving on the normal street when all of the sudden there was a cow on the road. A COW! He didn't have very good headlights, so by the time he saw it he was way too close to slow down. He swerved in an attempt to not hit the cow and slammed into an electricity pole. BOOM. The tractor was so heavy that it ended up knocking down 3 other power lines and the entire street lost electricity. That just so happened to be the street the library was on... so no power and no emailing!

Just kidding! It was Columbus Day. Apparently that is a holiday and librarians are the only ones who celebrate it.

I'm going to start out with some of the miracles that occurred this week!!

1. We have been working with this less active member, we went to go visit him and his mom last week and he expressed to us that he has desires to go to the temple!!!! It was such a good lesson we've had with them, we are visiting them today and we are soo excited!! But the biggest miracle that happened in that visit last week was that his mom bought us toilet paper! 24 rolls... when she handed that to us Sister Bengtzen and I  were so happy that we were about to cry.... her son also gave us a package of dehydrated pineapple... its the little things that make you happy on a mission :D

2. We did sooo much service this week!! It was the best! On Tuesday it was such a busy day, we helped someone move and then we also helped someone rip carpet out of their house! It was pretty fun! Service always makes you feel so happy!

3. We had zone training this week- that is always good! I learned so much!!

4. A potential called us and asked if we could meet with him the next day instead of in a week! We said of course!! We had a recent convert come with us to the lesson, he bore such powerful testimony, the spirit was so strong!

5. A couple nights ago all of our appointments fell through and we had an hour left in the night. It was raining but we went tracting anyway, the whole time people rejected us but as we were walking we were singing Called to Serve and I'll go where you want me to go, even though no one listened to us Sister Bengtzen and I were sooo happy! We truly found joy in this work!

My Spiritual thought for this week is this quote:

"Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart. Love life." President Gordon B. Hinckley

I absolutely love this quote!! It is just so joyful and happy! And it reminds me to do all things cheerfully! Well time is almost out, but I just want you all to know that I love being a missionary! Through the hard long days, and through the most happy days, being a missionary is just the best thing ever! Well I love you all so much!! I'll talk to you next week! :D

Love,
Sister Rook

October 3, 2016

Hey Everyone!!

This week was so so SO great! We have seen so many miracles this past week and I wish I could write about them all! The first one that comes to my mind is that Kelly watched General Conference!! She was supposed to watch it with us at a member's home- but then something came up and she couldn't make it.. but she still watched it by herself and she texted us saying how she absolutely loved it, and how she felt like the speakers were talking directly to her!! It was amazing!! Our investigator Jake was able to watch general conference with us at our ward mission leader's home. He came for the second session on Saturday, the spirit was so strong and you could tell he felt it, and he also said that he loved it as well!! General Conference was incredible. It definitely went by way too fast, but I'm so grateful for all the things I learned. One of my favorite talks was on Sunday- the one about feeling Joy through our Savior's Atonement. I just love that concept so much. I love that we can find Joy through repentance. I know that repentance is painful and hard- but I know that as we repent and aline our will with our Heavenly Father's we will be able to feel indescribable joy and that is ultimately what our Heavenly Father wants for us! I would talk more about general conference... but I left my notebook at home and I can't remember some of my favorite things from conference, so sorry! Well that is pretty much it for this week! sorry this email is so random and crazy and short! I love and miss you all so much!! I hope you have a fantastic rest of the week!!

Love,

Sister Rook

I don't think its possible for us to take a normal picture... :D

We got to help clean the temple today!! It was the best thing ever!!
